just want to have some fun, don't want to spend too much on modifications

tire If you have a dirt bike, supermotard bike, or basically any bike that is not too heavy (100 - 170kg) and ideally has only one cylinder, then that is already a good start.

To get good grip, you'll need a set of tires with a maximum profile 6mm deep. Ideally a 19" Maxxis DT flat track tire as shown on the right. But any rain tire will do if you have a standard 17" rim.

Also, it is a good idea to disable the front brake, or even better, remove it completly.

GEAR:
We recommend to have proper riding gear. Either the motocross style: motorcross boots, helmet, and gloves, or good motorcycle gear: full face helmet, leathers, gloves, and boots.

Professional
want to go fast, get the max fun out of drifting

shoe slide To be able to go sideways as shown on the picture at the right, you'll have to modifiy your bike a bit more than just getting the tires right. We recommend to get more steering angle. Tip: shorten the steering stoppers. In addition, lower and stifen the bike suspension in the front and rear. You want to get the center of gravity as low as possible.

We also recommend a flat track handle bar for better control.

GEAR:
We recommend to have proper riding gear. Either the motocross style: motorcross boots, helmet, and gloves, or the proper motorcycle gear: full face helmet, leathers, and boots. BUT most important: a steel shoe for your left boot as shown in the picture.

Expert
want to compete, make some points in the championship

ktm For a full flat track racing setup, we advise to do the following:

  1. get a set of 19" rims for front and back, with 19" tires (such as the Maxxis DT-3).
  2. remove the front brake and pick up mount, you'll never need it again
  3. street bike front forks (i.e.: Yamaha R6 or Honda CBRR 600)
  4. put in a stronger spring for the rear suspension and lower the bike
  5. flat track triple clamp (i.e.: A&A racing) and flat track handle bar
  6. move the rear further inwards
  7. get more torque out of your engine such as a big bore kit (the bike on the left is a KTM SX450 with a 525cc kit)

GEAR:
We recommend to have proper riding gear. Either the motocross style: motorcross boots, helmet, and gear, or the full leathers, boots and gloves, and a steel shoe.
